NATIONAL TV NETWORK USES LOCAL HOMEBUILDER FOR ITS “BLOG CABIN”

Asheville’s Greenstone Builders, specializing exclusively in ENERGY STAR®, NC HealthyBuilt homes, will build home in Western North Carolina for DIY Network using ideas contributed online by viewers

(ASHEVILLE, N.C.) – February 12, 2009: One of the fastest growing homebuilders in Asheville is about to go national. Greenstone Builders, which specializes exclusively in ENERGY STAR, NC HealthyBuilt homes, has been chosen to construct a home for DIY Network’s “Blog Cabin.”
“Blog Cabin,” television’s only interactive homebuilding series, incorporates preferences of Internet users – bloggers – in the design of the dwelling. More than 232,000 votes were cast for the building lot and more than 1.2 million votes were cast for the cabin design, which is located on a 3/4-acre property in The Preserve at Little Pine, a planned community in Madison County where Greenstone is a preferred builder.
Voting on various aspects of the home – from floor plans to faucets to finishing touches – will continue online through February. Greenstone will start construction in March and will be documented by DIY Network for the third season of “Blog Cabin,” which premieres on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 9 p.m. ET. An online sweepstakes will also start at that time, for which the grand prize is the finished cabin, to be awarded in November by DIY Network.
“The Blog Cabin project through DIY Network is an exciting and challenging opportunity,” said Rick Dwyer, founder and CEO of Greenstone Builders. “It is challenging in that the voters make decisions on what lot to build on, what plan to build and what options to use. This means that we must be extremely flexible, because we do not know what is going to be in the house we are building until voting is complete. It's an exciting project because we have a lot of voters who take a very active role and we want to ensure that this home is built to their high expectations.”
From the makers of HGTV and Food Network, DIY Network is one of the fastest growing digital networks, approaching 50 million homes. DIY Network is available in Asheville on Charter Communication Channel 104, and nationwide on DISH Network Channel 111 and DirecTV Channel 230. For additional cable channel designations, check local listings or visit www.diynetwork.com/tv. Episodes of “Blog Cabin” are available on-demand at “Blog Cabin Central” at www.diynetwork.com, where you can also sign up as a member of the voting community and make an impact on the cabin’s design.

Did you know? Each home that earns the ENERGY STAR® can keep 4,500 lbs of greenhouse gases out of our air each year. And because homes have such long life-spans, this environmental benefit lasts for many, many years. - Source: Energystar.gov
