Asheville's Greenstone Builders will build a cabin in Madison County for a DIY Network show.
The builder, which specializes in green homes, has been selected to construct a home for the show “Blog Cabin.”
The show solicits input from the public over the Internet and incorporates those suggestions into the house siting and construction. More than 232,000 votes were cast for the building lot and more than 1.2 million for the cabin design. The home will be built on a 3/4-acre lot at The Preserve at Little Pine, where Greenstone is a preferred builder.
Voting on various aspects of the home will continue online through this month. Construction, which will start next month, will be documented by DIY Network for the third season of “Blog Cabin.” The shows will appear starting in August.
The finished cabin will be given away in an online sweepstakes.
“The Blog Cabin project through DIY Network is an exciting and challenging opportunity,” said Rick Dwyer, founder of Greenstone. “It is challenging in that the voters make decisions on what lot to build on, what plan to build and what options to use. This means that we must be extremely flexible, because we do not know what is going to be in the house we are building until voting is complete. It's an exciting project because we have a lot of voters who take a very active role and we want to ensure that this home is built to their high expectations.”
The Preserve at Little Pine is slated to include an equestrian center, in addition to a lodge facility. For more on the community visit www.littlepine.info.
